Chapter Watch - Klang South

< Previous, > Next

To bring Christians in Klang to fellowship under the banner of His love and to build up believers in the love of Jesus through FGBMF get-togethers. Also to draw lost souls who are `church-shy’ to the saving grace of Jesus through programmes that will expose them to the Gospel. In short, we want to flow with the FGBMF Vision and Mission.

The Klang South Chapter started in 1988. Though it has seen its ups and downs since then,  recently, by the grace of God, there has been a rejuvenation - a new vision and vigour to fulfill the FGBMF vision and mission. The call to chapter members has been to catch the Kingdom vision:  to serve in the building of God’s kingdom before anything else by praying and walking according to His plans and purpose.

There is close interaction between the chapters in Klang South and Klang North (the only other chapter in Klang). Major events are always hosted jointly. On many occasions, the two chapters would also combine meetings when there are special speakers.

Klang South Chapter was instrumental in organising the annual family and golf outing with the objective of reaching out to unbelievers. Non-Christian golfers are especially invited to join the outing, which are usually held at outstation holiday resorts. A special speaker would also be invited to share with members and non-Christians.

Reaching Out To The Klangites

Klang South and North members have jointly made visits to Malaysian native settlements in Perak to share and to give encouragement to Christians there.

The Chapter has also got itself involved in a youth rally for secondary pupils in Klang by being one of the sponsors. The evangelistic rally, which was jointly organised by pupils from eleven  secondary schools, saw about 30 youngsters coming to the Lord.

Recently, the chapter combined with Klang North hosted an evangelistic banquet in which about 500 people attended. Eleven people came forward for the sinners’ prayer while others came to be prayed for healing and other needs.

For many Christians from various churches in Klang, the banquet was an eye-opener as they had never before witnessed the FGBMF way of presenting the gospel. Neither  had they seen the Happy Men’s Club in action! Some are already asking when the next banquet would be!

Having seen the impact of the banquet on Christians and unbelievers alike, the chapter is considering another banquet later this year besides this year’s  family and golf outing.

Klang South and North are also in the process of launching a Chinese chapter. Some Mandarin-speaking brothers have indicated their interest to lead the chapter and it will be started once a suitable place is found.
.
The chapter also holds a prayer meeting jointly with Klang North on the first Monday of each month.

The chapter leadership also encourages each member to share his testimony at chapter meetings. It does not matter whether one’s testimony is `ordinary’ or `not so dramatic’ as the objective is for one to learn to share and to develop greater confidence in public speaking.

Though the chapter’s attendance hovers around 14, the leadership is praying that the Lord will grow the chapter by first drawing more believers so that every church in Klang will be represented. The motive for this is to effect greater unity in the body of Christ in Klang through regular fellowship and praying together.
