The Full Gospel
Businessmen's Fellowship was, at that time, holding a convention in
Kuala Lumpur. I attended the convention out of curiosity and met Dr
Peter Tong for the first time. He directed me to see the President of
the MUI Plaza chapter and I subsequently became a member. Over the next
three to four years, I served as Treasurer and Secretary. I learned much
about the promises of God and the wonder-working miracles of the Holy
Spirit as I had opportunities to attend conventions in Bangkok,
Singapore, Philippines, Kuching, Penang and KL. I heard the teachings of
many well-known local and overseas speakers.
Then I became involved with Dr. Peter
Tong and his "A-Team", a nickname that was borrowed from a
television series depicting tough and hardened characters that formed a
team to deal with criminals! The FGBMF's A-Team, however, was formed to
catch lost souls for Christ! One of the earliest members was Uncle Khoo
Peck Wan from Melaka, a fiery, hot-tempered, gun-toting reveler during
the Colonial days! He became a changed man upon receiving Christ and
witnessed strongly for the Lord until his demise. Dr. Peter Tong said
that like Elijah, Uncle Khoo passed his mantle to me and the Playboy of
Yesterday became a Prayerboy of today!
I thank God for the FGBMF. Through this
organization, I was able to develop the qualities of good spiritual
leadership, to become an effective witness for Christ and to preach the
Word of God. Today I am indeed a happy man because as a member and Field
Representative-at-large for the FGBMF, I have the opportunity to reach
men everywhere I go for Jesus Christ. Wherever I am invited to preach,
my great desire is to call men back to God.
