Chapter Watch - Alor Setar Chapter
By Lawrence Tan (President, Alor Setar Chapter)

The chapter was launched in 1987. To date, we are a fellowship of 19 able men from different church backgrounds, just available and ready to do His will.

We meet twice monthly for prayer and fellowship. We want to give thanks to the Lord for committed fellow-workers like Gan Tuan Sin, Max Ng, Chng Yeang Boon, Peter Gan and Peter Lee who are all prepared to put their hands on the plough for the Lord.

As a closely knitted chapter, we strongly believe in our Mission Statement and invest our time and resources to reach and call men and women back to God. What a better way than to organize, on a yearly basis, at least three to four evangelistic banquets to reach out to the lost in our local community. Thus far, the average attendance of each banquet is 250 people and cost has always been kept at an affordable RM12 per person.

In 2001, we brought 18 people to the Lord through the banquet meetings and more than 40 responded for healing and other needs. In our April and June 2002 banquets alone, 10 people accepted Jesus. We are now eagerly awaiting for the 15 August banquet where Dr. Kuan Kim Hock and his Malacca team will share with our guests their personal testimonies.

We meet with local pastors regularly to establish a closer rapport with the local churches with the realisation that we can bridge the gap between the marketplace and church. To date, we have organised two Pastors Luncheon Fellowship meetings and have planned one more in September 2002. The luncheon attendance and response have always been good. Our message to local churches is simple: let's join hands to actively spread the gospel throughout the Alor Setar community. The right hand of fellowship we received thus far has been more than encouraging. We are thankful and appreciative of the pastors' support, in particular their blessings and backing to our evangelistic banquets.

We want to remain faithful in our calling and shall continue to trust in the Lord in guiding us in our Mission. Glory to God.
