The Annual Members Conference (formerly known as Annual Planning Conference) for 2002 was smoothly convened. The following reports were received from the Northern and Central Region.

Southern Region - Annual Members' Conference
After Bro Tay Yoke Soon had led the members for a time of worship, Bro Samuel Tan, the Regional Director welcomed the members to the conference and reiterated the purposes of the Conference i.e. to update and encourage one another as they moved forward in the ministry. The mission statement was collectively recited.

Bro Tan Tek Seng presented a paper entitled "Attitude of a Servant in the Marketplace Ministry." It was an apt topic as it emphasized on the important ingredients required in doing God's ministry. The key was our faithfulness as God's called and chosen servants. It was a good reminder for the members as we continued to extend His Kingdom to a larger territory.

After the tea break, our National President Dr Peter Tong presented his exhortation. Many felt the anointing in his message. There was a sense of urgency as he urged us to win souls for the Lord - individually & collectively. We are to win souls for Him not out of duty but as an expression of our love & gratitude. We are to make the most of every opportunity serving Jesus as His servants, light and salt. The National Secretary's Report from January to September 2002 was tabled. It was encouraging to note that there were now 105 chapters with 887 members. The emergence of 26 Chinese chapters was praiseworthy. Most heartening was the 1,769 souls saved through FGBMF Ministry in 2002 (until Sept 2002).

Bro Wong Hong Meng presented a paper on "The FGBMF Process". The paper addressed the basis of the FGBMF. New members benefited much from this presentation while senior members were refreshed and reminded to be on-track.

Bro Samuel Tan presented a paper on "FGBMF - Managing Growth and Challenges". He reminded the members on the need to discern the direction of the Holy Spirit. They were in a season of harvest. Challenges ahead included character development, operation of power ministry, facing opposition and meeting needs.

Bro Kuan Kim Hock, the deputy regional director also shared his thoughts.

Dr Peter Tong recorded his thanks to Bro Eric Tee for his past contributions. Bro Eric had recently been ordained as a pastor of a local church. Under the Manual, he had to relinquish his position as Field Representative. He would, however, remain as a member of the Fellowship.

After the tea break, Bro Julian Ma challenged the members to make pledges toward the FGBMF ministry. He also presented the Southern Region Account.

After a group photograph session, the members departed for home.

Northern Region - Annual Members' Conference
On the 5th October, 2002, 118 FGBMF members from Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis gathered at the Taiping Resort & Country Club for the Annual Members' Conference. The convergence of the participants, the National Board Members and the speakers in the early afternoon at the Resort was met by the "warm" traditional welcome of Taiping i.e. a heavy downpour of showers of blessings.

The 2002 AMC was by far the best-attended conference to date for the Northern Region. The delegates enjoyed the programme which was well planned and the topics delivered by the main speakers fully met their needs. The message delivered by our National President, Dr. Peter Tong, in the words of Bro. Ee Beng Wat, the President of Kinta Chapter, "came at the most appropriate time. All the members needed to be reminded of serving the Lord with sacrifice and with an attitude of servanthood; not for self-glory or seeking a position with the intention of networking for business ventures."

Bro. Lee Min Choon, a lawyer and a lecturer at a Bible College in Kuala Lumpur, gave the keynote address on "How Christian Businessmen Can Make The Difference". He reminded the delegates that as Christians, they were in this world but not of this world. He highlighted the important role played by Christian professionals and businessmen. Hence, how they led their lifestyles was very important so as to be effective as salt and light in the marketplace. As Christian businessmen, they should make a difference in the society where the non-Christians could see the Christ-like lifestyles of the Christians.

Bro. Wong Hong Meng inspired the members with 'what a FGBMF man ought to be.' Not only must he be committed to the mission and vision of FGBMF, he must also be a godly husband and father. All in all, according to feedback received, the conference was highly successful and the members felt very charged up and motivated. With that, it was certain that the members would continue to keep the flame burning brightly for Jesus. The statistics given by Sis. Amy Beh revealed that the Northern Region was by far the most active in terms of the number of Banquets organised as at the date of the Conference. The Northern Region had held 17 Evangelistic Banquets. Thank God for the burden shown by the Field Representatives, Presidents and members of the 18 Chapters in reaching out to the lost souls. Our vision for next year is to have more Chapters with emphasis on Chinese-speaking chapters.

The presence of our National President, despite his medical condition, was most uplifting and inspiring. When it was initially learned that he was not coming for the AMC, a sense of disappointment prevailed. However, knowing that God was a God of miracles and He was also a prayer-answering God, a decision was made to lift up Dr. Peter Tong to the Lord every morning and a cry to the Lord to show him a sign that would change his mind. Praise God that He answered 'by giving Dr. Peter Tong a positive sign in that his marker liver enzymes was lowered considerably. The National President took that as a positive sign from God that he should attend the AMC and' thank God for his presence truly made the difference in making the AMC a complete success.

A word of thanks to the Taiping Chapter for hosting the session. May God continue to bless and prosper them richly.
