An Interview...

< Previous, > Next

Dr Moses LeeOver the years, FGBMF Malaysia has often been the fellowship place of Christian leaders. Many are now serving as pastors, elders, deacons and in other leadership positions. One such leader is Dr Moses Lee (a former Field Representative and now serving as Home-fellowship Coordinator at Full Gospel Assembly, Kuala Lumpur) whom the FLAME interviewed recently.

Q: Dr Moses, may I know what led you and how you were involved in the early days of FGBMF?

A: Early in 1984 there was no chapter in Petaling Jaya or in Selangor. A former senior leader Bro. Wong Kim Kong approached me to start a chapter in PJ. At first I was reluctant as I was then quite new in FGBMF. Later, together with Dr. Tai Young, Sunny Cheah, Dr Dennis Ng and the late Bro. Patrick Yeoh, we started a chapter in Damansara Jaya. I became its first President. We would organise regular chapter and praying meetings, hold regular banquets in a restaurant instead of in a 5- star hotel. This was more popular as it did not cost so much to book a table. We would also visit the sick wherever they were and also support other chapters' meetings from time to time.

Q: Can you compare the spiritual climate then and now?

A: It was certainly different because the charismatic movement was new then. We were not tired of attending meetings and organising banquets. We had some interesting speakers such as " the dwarf who became a giant [literally]", a former NASA astronaut and many other interesting speakers as well.

Q: Would you say you have attained utmost satisfaction when filled with the Holy Spirit?

A: Yes, of course. I received the baptism of speaking in tongues in 1984.

Q: You certainly have fond memories of FGBMF Malaysia. Would you kindly share them with us?

A: One of my greatest satisfactions was bringing people to Christ especially those who had backslided and the many healings of the body and relationships. Apart from these, it was the privilege of meeting and having fellowship with so many brothers and sisters in Christ. I owed a great deal to the training and exposure in speaking and leadership that I received in FGBMF.

Q: What are your views on FGBMF's progress over the recent years?

A: In recent years FGBMF has made great and bold strategies in going to the vernacular groups- especially the Chinese speaking and the compassion shown to the under privileged. This is certainly a departure from the old.

Q: What is it that you miss most on leaving FGBMF to serve in the church?

A: I missed the fellowship with believers from other fellowship groups and churches - not to mention enlarging our "portable pulpits".

Q: Lastly, what would be your passing words to the current FGBMF members?

A: Always remember the manifesto of the FGBMFI and the original vision of the founder, Demos Shakarian!
