Mission Trip & Outing

10th May 2003 was an auspicious day for KL Bangsar Baru Chapter as we embarked on our first mission trip to the Royal Town of Perak, Kuala Kangsar. The purpose of this trip was to be a channel of God's blessings to the churches and the church pastors and leaders in Kuala Kangsar. Our aim was to come along side by side with church leaders in "small towns" and to encourage them along the straight and narrow way.

Eight members (including friends of the Chapter) obeyed the call of the Lord and went in faith. The team arrived safely and were immediately ushered to a waiting church leaders assembly for the praise and worship session at the Full Gospel Assembly (FGA) Kuala Kangsar. The church leaders comprised mainly of the committee members of the Christian Cemetery Association of Kuala Kangsar (CCA, KK). Later we were briefed on the purpose of the formation of CCA, KK and that they had been granted a piece of cemetery land from the State Government. However, they were unable to do anything about the land, as they do not have sufficient funds. CCA, KK needs around RM 30,000 to level the land and fence up the land for its first phase. A tea reception was sponsored by Bro. Loh Poh Seng (Northern Region Director) who joined the team later.

Soon after, the team conducted a "revival meeting" for the saints in Kuala Kangsar at a combined service at Anglican Church represented by six (6) different churches from Kuala Kangsar & Sungai Siput, Perak namely Word of Life Centre, Sungai Siput; Word of Life, Kuala Kangsar; Church of Resurrection, Kuala Kangsar; Jesus Saves Mission, Kuala Kangsar; Kuala Kangsar Gospel Hall Chapel and Full Gospel Assembly, Kuala Kangsar. It was attended by 110 adults and 15 children.

The evening's message was delivered by Bro. Wong Hong Meng (Central Region Deputy Director) who also joined the team. He challenged them to trust in the ways of the Lord and not on their own understanding and to expect great things from the Lord.

The evening service was closed with a word of prayer and followed with a fellowship meal for all who attended the service. Everyone was so joyful and blessed with the message and with an expectation of great and exciting times that will be coming to their town.

The next day, before the break of dawn, the team gathered for the morning's devotion. After breakfast the team was divided into 3 sub-teams for ministry. Bro Wong Hong Meng led a team to Church of Resurrection, KK (Anglican Church), Bro Matthew shared his personal testimony with a message by Bro James Yeong. Bro Anthony Leong led another team to Full Gospel Assembly, KK, where Bro Chu Kia Yen testified and a message by Bro Rudy Wong. Bro Oo Chin Lee led a third team to Word of Life, Sungai Siput, where Bro Daniel O'Neil Rugu testified and message was brought by Bro Loh Poh Seng.

The reports from the team were encouraging and the people of Kuala Kangsar were blessed by this trip. Indeed, we believe that the team members were blessed as well and many of the team members could not wait for another trip and have "registered" for the next trip.

Praise the Lord.
