Inter-Chapter Breakfast Prayer Fellowship

The monthly first Saturday inter-chapter breakfast prayer meeting was born on a Saturday morning bah-kut-teh fellowship between two brothers from the KL Bukit Bintang Chapter in mid-1997. There was ‘restlessness’ in our hearts that something was amiss and that we were not making good use of our free Saturday morning to intercede for FGBMF matters and for our nation. It is good to have lunch meetings in the city as beacons for the city but we normally did not have enough time to pray thoroughly and in depth as we reflected upon the state of our nation and FGBMF matters.

The two brothers then shared this burden with the Bukit Bintang chapter president, Bro. Robert Chong and others. We agreed unanimously to have our first meeting at Canaanland bookshop cum coffee house at the Menara TA One ground floor. We believed the venue should be in the heart of the city where we could do spiritual warfare and intercession and strike at the heart of KL city. We thank God that the first venue was located just at the foothills of the Petronas Twin Towers. A decision was arrived at to meet at 7.30 am on the first Saturday of September 1997 as everyone would be fresh after having a good night’s rest. Furthermore, those who were working could still go to work at 9 am after the prayer meeting.

However, the night before the first meeting, there was a chaotic incident at Chow Kit Road and rumours were rife and that curfew may be imposed. We were afraid that no one would turn up for the meeting. The late William Lim encouraged us to go ahead with the meeting as we were in Christ. Surprisingly, 30 people turned up and we had a good time of worship led by Robert Chong and a brief message by evangelist Louis Manuel from Lumut. We believed that it was a turning point in the spiritual atmosphere and landscape of our nation. Praise be to our God!

We also cried out to God in one spirit to ask God for revival and to reaffirm the vision and power of our ministry in all FGBMF meetings. We believe God heard our prayers as later the FGBMF Chinese work began in earnest. Of course there were also other people and groups praying likewise for the above. But deep in our hearts, God had reminded us that it was so very important to seek Him first thing in the morning and in the unity of spirit.

The monthly breakfast prayer meeting has since continued to grow with the venue at another strategic location, the Business Centre, Vistana Hotel, Jalan Lumut, Off Jalan Ipoh.

We also thank God that the YTL group provides us with complimentary breakfasts. The meeting normally ends at 9am or 9.30 am, in time for us to perform our normal chores for the day.

So brothers and sisters, if you are stirred in your heart, you are most welcome to join us as the more the better and the more power and effectiveness will be the prayers offered to God. Be part of this team of FGBMF prayer warriors!
