All glory and honour to
Almighty God for a wonderful series of five Annual Members'
Conferences (AMC). From Ipoh for the Northern Region and across the
South China Sea to Kota Kinabalu for the Sabah
Region, there was a
flow of unity in the Fellowship, unorchestrated by man but led and
arranged by the Holy Spirit.
We had encouraging and
challenging messages from the invited pastors and other speakers and
ultimately the one sentence that would sum it all up would be: Walk
the talk to gather in the harvest.
At the Northern AMC in
Ipoh, Ps Paul Lai spoke on Galatians 6:9 to challenge the FGBMF men to
use our creative talents to release more of the seeds that God had
placed in our hands. In Kuala Lumpur, Ps Dr Chew Weng Chee challenged
Central Region members on the importance of "Integrity in the
Marketplace" and hammered home the point that we must 'walk the
talk'. The need for integrity among believers in the market place was
reinforced by Ps Ting Chin Siong at the Southern Region AMC at Port
Dickson.
At the Sabah AMC in
Kota Kinabalu, Ps Lam Kee Hing reminded us of the importance of our
ministry. He quoted Henry Blackaby who said, "The next spiritual
awakening would take place in the marketplace" and Billy Graham,
"I believe one of the great moves of God is going to be through
the believers in the workplace".
Finally, at Kuching we
had the return of our old FGBMF friend, Dr Thomas Chung. He gave
credit to the Fellowship for contributing to the charismatic renewal
of the church in Malaysia in the 1980s and 90s. But he asked,
"What is God saying to us now?" and urged that we pay
attention to Isaiah 30:21 and 1
Kings19:11-18.
Although unable to be
with us, National President Dr Abraham Tong also called us to persist
in faith and prayer and to go on to perfection (Hebrews
6:11). We need
to set up altars (chapters) everywhere to usher in the presence of God
wherever we are in the marketplace. Linking the series together, Bro
Wong Hong Meng reminded us to honour our call to the FGBMF ministry as
called, chosen and faithful members.
Praise God also for the
record attendance at some of the AMCs. Attendance at the Central
Region AMC was 226. At the Northern AMC, 114 attended while there were
61 at the Southern AMC. Sixty-nine people attended the Sabah AMC and
it was of great encouragement to know that 31 brothers attended in
Kuching.
Our thanks to the
pastors and other speakers for ministering to us and reminding us of
the mission that God has entrusted to the FGBMF. Much remains to be
done and we still have to grow and mature in the Lord. Our new lives
must result in ethical business practices and behaviour in line with
scriptural injunctions if we are to have any significant impact in the
marketplace.
The AMCs re-affirms our
calling to the marketplace ministry. However we will need to move on
as God directs - with renewed passion into new areas, armed with new
creativity for different approaches but always with the same vision
and confidence that this is God's work and He will bring in the
harvest.
So onward Happy Men,
the harvest is waiting.
