It was on a Sunday
night on 15 August 2004 that I had a frightening experience. My heart
was beating very fast and pumping erratically. I took my blood
pressure and the reading was extremely high although I was on
hypertension pills. I could not sleep the whole night as I was
experiencing palpitations of the heart.
The next day I went to
consult a cardiologist at a private hospital. I had an Echo M, ECG and
Stress Test M done. The Echo showed a mild leak of my aortic valve.
The ECG showed ischemic condition. For the stress test taken on the
thread mill I got up to the 3rd level only as the graph showed the
heart was unduly stressed. A normal heart can reach up to 5th level.
All these symptoms and
tests indicated that my heart was not functioning normally (In late
1983, I had an ischemic attack and a mild stroke and had since been
treated at the general hospital hypertension). I was advised to go for
an angiogram to find out the condition of my arteries.
The next morning, I
went to the General Hospital to consult the physician who had been
treating me for hypertension all these years. I had another echo
examination and it was confirmed that I had a mild leakage in the
aortic valve. I was told to see him the next day with the report from
the private hospital. In the afternoon, after returning from the
hospital, my condition became worse. I was physically drained of my
strength, was short of breath and could not even speak. My heart was
beating very fast and irregular. I was restless that night and prayed
that the Lord would help me and that I would find favour in Him and in
the sight of the physician the next day.
On Tuesday, I was
admitted into General Hospital. I underwent a series of blood tests
and was treated for my uncontrolled blood pressure. Praise and thank
the Lord for answering my prayer, an appointment was immediately made
for me to go to Institute Jantung Negara (IJN) for an angiogram. I was
discharged on Wednesday. I requested prayer support from brothers and
sisters in Christ, including FGBMF members who had gone to attend the
FGBMFI Asian Convention in Singapore.
On Friday afternoon, I
was in bed listening to an old CD "God with us" album,
thinking I had come to the end of the road and my mind was flooded
with negative thoughts. When the song "God will make a way"
was being played, I felt in my heart God was speaking to me through
the lyrics of the song. Suddenly, I began to cry. In that moment the
Holy Spirit reminded me that God is all powerful. All things are
possible for God. He will make a way for me. I realized I had been too
busy with other things in my life and forgot that Jesus reigns
supreme. He is the great Physician and Healer. I quickly repented of
my sins, my weaknesses, my failures and my unrighteousness. I asked
God to forgive me and give me the courage, strength and the will to
overcome. God strengthened me with names of "Who Jesus is"
that were read out in the CD. And finally Jesus was exalted with
"No other Name but the Name of Jesus."
God strengthened me
further in the night with testimonies written by people who were
healed by Jesus through the prayers of a sister in Christ in Alor
Star. I could sense in my heart that the Lord was speaking to me
through the testimonies, particularly this sister's own testimony that
the Lord healed her of her blockage of the arteries.. It was not a
coincidence but a divine appointment that this book of testimonies was
passed on to me by a good friend. I read all the testimonies before I
went to sleep. My faith was lifted up.
The next morning I
phoned the same sister, Mrs Goh, to pray for me before I left for the
airport. She prayed for me over the phone and asked me to claim the
healing which Jesus had begun and that He would complete it. "By
His Stripes I am healed."
I took a flight to KL.
I was admitted to IJN on Sunday. They continued to treat my
hypertension which was 143/78 despite the high dosage of medication I
was taking. On Monday, at about 3.15 pm, I was wheeled into the OT.
While I was waiting for my turn, I turned to the Lord and surrendered
myself into His hands. I prayed " Lord, give me an extension of
life. Heal me as you healed Sister Goh." I remembered her
testimony. She said "No surgery, no surgery." as she came
out of the OT. There was no fear in me and I felt peaceful. Like her,
"God will make a way for me when there is no way. All things are
possible for God."
I went through the
process smoothly. As the doctor viewed the x-ray he told me that there
was no blockage in any of the arteries. I was very happy and knew that
Jesus had not forsaken me and had performed a miracle, clearing the
arteries of any blockage and I believe He will complete it and give me
total healing.
"All praise and
honour and glory to Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, the Great Physician
and Healer. Thank you Jesus."
