An Interview...

Bro. Lee Chin HowThe FGBMF Malaysia has been the birthplace of many Christian leaders. Some of the FGBMF brothers are now serving as pastors, elders, deacons and in various leadership positions in churches and other ministries. One such person is Bro. Lee Chin How, a former Central Region Group Co-ordinator, who is now serving as Regional Representative for South East Asia, Haggai Institute, and author of a book entitled “The Mature Christian Mindset”. The FLAME interviewed Bro. Chin How recently.

Q. Bro Chin How, what led you to the FGBMF and how were you involved in it the early days?

A: FGB members introduced me to the fellowship. I first started to attend the fellowship meeting in Chew Wai Man’s office in MUI Plaza, then the MUI Plaza Chapter and then as a committee member of UBN Tower Chapter. I gradually became its Chapter President. Then I helped start the City Square Chapter as the Field Representative. Subsequently, I became a Central Region Group Co-ordinator.

Q. Can you compare the spiritual climate then and now?

A: Since attending the FGB weekly lunchtime meetings, I looked forward to those meetings because the spiritual atmosphere was really charged up. It was refreshing and rejuvenating. In fact, I attended two chapter meetings every week in the early days. I feel that the spiritual climate then was one of great excitement and expectations. However, since I have not been involved in FGB ministry for the past three years, I cannot truly make a comment on its spiritual climate now.

Q. Would you say you have attained utmost satisfaction when filled with the Holy Spirit?

A: There is no question about it. We all need the in-filling of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we are handicapped.

Q. You certainly have fond memories of FGBMF Malaysia. Would you kindly share them with us?

A: Seeing the birth of the KL City Square Chapter from a mere gathering of 3 or 4 members weekly to over 60 within two years always reminds me of the greatness and power of God. Witnessing lost souls being brought into the kingdom of light and lives touched during chapter meetings and banquets inevitably brings joy in reminding me of the mercy and grace of God.

Q. What are your views on FGBMF’s progress over the recent years?

A: From the reports, the Chinese work has really taken great stride and is an inspiration to everyone. FGBMF surely knows where the fishes are and where to put the nets.

Q. What is it that you miss most ever since you became less active in FGBMF?

A: Feeling the presence of God with other saints in chapter meetings, banquets and conventions, seeing souls being saved and the fellowship with friends after that.

Q. Please share with us your current ministry?

A: Haggai Institute was founded in 1969 to equip qualified Asian, African and Latin American Christian leaders to effectively evangelize their own people and train other believers to do the same. We accomplish this vision by inviting accredited leaders in the market place or the church to our centre either in Singapore or on Maui, Hawaii, USA, to attend our international seminars in which participants from 30 to 40 countries in each session go through a unique life-changing learning experience. The seminars are conducted in English or Mandarin. As Regional Representative for South East Asia for Haggai Institute, I cover seven countries – Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Singapore. I therefore travel extensively to these countries to select Christian leaders for the Haggai Institute international seminars. Haggai Institute is international and interdenominational. Over 50,000 leaders from 170 countries have been through the Haggai Institute programme, among them many FGBMF Malaysia members.

Q. Lastly, what would be your passing words to the current FGBMF members?

A: Keep the flame burning and fervently continue to draw in the net with fishes. You are doing a great job for God’s glory.
