FGBMF Malaysia had another profitable year in the Lord. The 505
members who attended the five regional Annual Members’
Conferences were informed that by the end of August 2005 the
ministry across the country had organized a total of 80
evangelistic events ranging from the 20 to 30 people per Happy
Hour gathering to rallies of up to 5,000 people. From those
events came a total of 2,439 responses for salvation.
Bro Lee Gee Koon,
the National President, attributed the continuing success of the
ministry to the organizational restructuring and strategic
succession planning put in place by our late president, Dr
Abraham Peter Tong. He left behind a team of leaders to carry on
with the mandate and the vision of our founder, the late Demos
Shakarian.
Bro Loh Poh Seng,
a member of the Governing Council of Elders, reiterated at the
Central AMC that the work had yet to be completed. The FGBMF was
still relevant as the principal marketplace ministry in the
country and every member must be committed to the mission as the
vision intensified. So members need to put their shoulders to
the plough and press on.
Although planned
separately by each regional director with differing formats and
programmes, the Holy Spirit flowed through the five AMCs
ensuring a message of unity and of purpose whilst catering to
the needs of each region.

Exhortation from
the National President:
Without mincing his words the National
President, Bro Lee Gee Koon, urged the members to prioritise.
They needed to worship God and to be the prophet, priest and
king. They must be an effective witness in the marketplace- to
provide for leadership to their families, others, and be of
service to God.

Quoting the example of Gideon, Bro Lee Gee Koon
urged all members to believe that they were leaders because God
said so. They must think and act like leaders living lives of
holiness and doing what the Lord had entrusted His people to do.
Evangelism should be their lifestyle and they should bring at
least one new member into the Fellowship each year, and
eventually mentoring the new member to be a leader too.
Highlighting on
Consecration, the national president said that since their body
was the temple of the Holy Spirit, then there was a tremendous
need for them to be holy and sacred. A temple needed to be
cleansed regularly so likewise the Temple of God.
Their
consecration was through the renewing of their minds, washed by
the Word, and their commitment was through a personal life of
holiness fulfilling what the Lord had asked them to do in the
ministry.
The Holy Spirit
must be enthroned in each member and reign from there.
On Commitment,
the national president, quoted from 1 Chronicles 7:14 said that
as a mighty Man of Valour a personal transformation was deemed
necessary. Only then, could the new move/wave transform cities
and nations.

Sabah Members standing tall in unity
Each AMC had an
invited speaker; Ps Paul Ang in Butterworth; Ps Khoo Kay Hup in
Kuala Lumpur; Ps Zephaniah Pee in Skudai, Johor; Ps Lam Chee
Heng in Kota Kinabalu and Bro Dr Thomas Chung in Bintulu. All
the members were blessed by their messages challenging them to
be men of God, men of faith and marketplace witnesses for the
Lord.

Southern Region Members: A Show of
Strength
|
Ps Lam Chee Heng
urged the members in Sabah to continue to grow; grow stronger in
the inner man, grow deeper in faith, grow closer in love of
Christ and grow fuller in the glory of God. They simply cannot
preach on empty. They must be filled with the Holy Spirit as
they grow in character, righteousness, godliness, in their
relationships and spiritual life.
Dr Thomas Chung,
an old friend of the Fellowship, recollected that he spoke at
the first five national conventions. Recognizing the role of the
FGBMF in bringing renewal to the English speaking churches in
the 80’s and early 90’s and lately to the Chinese speaking
churches, he reminded all members to exercise due diligence in
their invitation of speakers, mindful of their role as
gatekeepers. At the same time their neutrality must be preserved
avoiding taking sides in controversial teachings.
For FGBMF to restore their cutting
edge FGB men must be well informed on biblical teachings and
sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Wrong thinking will lead to wrong
behavior. The Word of God will help shape their character as
their replaced wrong behavior with correct behavior. And their
Christian character shall impact the world. Do not look for
excitement but look for and walk on the old path (Jeremiah
6:16).

Northern Region AMC in progress

“We are Happy Men” |
Ps Zephaniah Pee
focussed on the 2nd coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He impacted
the members in the Southern Region the urgency to rush out to
the unsaved. Ps Zephaniah’s ministry in China was a live
illustration used.
Ps Paul Ang,
speaking at the AMC in the Northern Region, drew an analogy when
he expressed that as God’s people grow from a caterpillar to a
butterfly He sees them as the latter. God does not see their
past or their present but as what they would be in the future.
The scriptures in Ephesians 2:10
declares:
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do
good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ps Khoo Kay Hup,
told the assembly at the Central Region
that in ‘Walking The Talk in the Marketplace’ three important
issues need to be borne in mind. They are the issues of
‘Character, Integrity and Witness’. In summing up he stressed
that character should flow out of their relationship with God;
integrity involved the question of consistency, choices and
credit; and witness would be a powerful influence if they walked
rightly.

The National
Secretary, Bro Wong Hong Meng, reminded members of the
attributes of a FGBMF man; the burden for souls and the
willingness to commit time, effort and money for the vision to
be realized. Regardless of the role called to play, every member
could contribute and was considered as an effective evangelical
tool important to the ministry.
At the end of
2005, there were 98 chapters with 878 members. 80 evangelistic
events were held nationwide with a harvest of 2439 souls.
The
National Treasurer, Bro James Kui, drew biblical treasures to emphasise on the divine blessings of giving. He presented the
financial report and reaffirmed that the Lord had been faithful
in supplying all the members’ needs, year after year, as they
continued to labour with Him in the harvest field. The Lord was
a debtor to none. As they were faithful in supporting the
ministry financially He shall supply for all of their needs.
The National
Director of Evangelism, Bro Tan Tek Seng, the National Director
for Evangelism, shared his personal experiences in the
marketplace evangelism. His testimonies touched and encouraged
us to be effective in the marketplace witnessing through the
manifestation of His love and care for others.
Bro Tan Teck
Seng, began his report by asking the delegates, “How high can
you fly?” He went on to say that evangelism was simply sharing
with others the goodness of the Lord.
A field
representative exclaimed, “I thank God for the AMC. After one
year we can get a little tired, a little jaded. The AMC has
refreshed my soul and recharged my spirit. I am all excited
looking forward to what the Lord will have me do in 2006.”
The AMCs are on a
fixed schedule; beginning in the north on the first Saturday of
October each year, then to Kuala Lumpur followed by the Southern
region; then to Sabah and finally ending in Sarawak on the first
Saturday of November. Block the dates in your diary. Plan to
come and be blessed. |
