Brother Nga, what led you to the FGBMF and how were you involved in it during the early days?

A: I first served as the vice-president of the Sitiawan Chapter. Subsequently I was appointed as a Field Representative. I resigned from the said post to contest as a Parliamentary candidate in the last General Elections but was unsuccessful. I was much attracted by the zeal of the FGBMF brothers in reaching out to people in the so called “market places”. These FGBMF brothers were ordinary people and non clergymen. They shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ and their testimonies with much boldness even though they did not have formal theological training. It was exciting to see the gifts of the Holy Spirit operating through their lives as they lay hands to pray for the sick or cast out demons in Jesus’ Name.

Can you compare the spiritual climate then and now ?

A: The original wave of enthusiasm appears to have peaked with the establishment of the Chinese and to some lesser extent the Tamil Chapters respectively. On the overall spiritual climate in the Christendom, it appears to suffer from a lack of awareness and readiness to cope with other spiritual forces which are picking up momentum increasingly. The declaration that Malaysia is an Islamic State together with some of the recent cases on the freedom of religion under Article 11 of the Federal Constitution and the opposition towards “Kongsi Raya” should be an eye opener to the writings on the wall. Hopefully the Christendom would be like the sons of Issachar who understood the signs of times.

Would you say you have attained utmost satisfaction when filled with the Holy Spirit?

A: It was satisfying to be filled with the Holy Spirit but that is not an end in itself. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is to bear witness of the reality of the resurrected Jesus Christ in our lives. How exciting it would be to see a restoration of the Church as God’s people as in the book of Acts.

You certainly have fond memories of FGBMF Malaysia. Would you kindly share them with us?

A: Many interesting and touching testimonies were heard at FGBMF meetings. The Men’s Camp and the Family Camp were occasions that I looked forward to attend; they have benefited my whole family. The teachings of good bible teachers like Dick Eastman, Des Short, Bill Subrisky, Collin Urquhart and healing ministers like Roy Durman, DGS Dhinakaran (just to recall a few of them) were most helpful to one’s spiritual development .It was a joy to see people coming to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord. What are your views on FGBMF’s progress over the recent years? A: The FGBMF deserves special commendation for breaking ground on two fronts. First is the promotion of unity and co-labour among the Christendom in this country. The FGBMF is a unique platform for the expression of Psalm 133. Secondly, its readiness to equip and release the ordinary businessmen into ministry is a correct biblical paradigm in the right direction which should be encouraged and enhanced. The FGBMF has been effective in reaching out to people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through its Banquet Meetings who would otherwise never step into a local Church. The mechanics down the road may not be knowledgeable in automobile engineering but they can usually fix up our car repairs quite effortlessly and efficiently. To fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ it is unrealistic to wait for and depend on a handful of people to enroll as students in the seminary or Bible schools to be trained for the task. The Holy spirit can equip ordinary businessmen with spiritual gifts to operate as “God’s mechanics” in huge numbers. They can then touch broken lives with the love and healing of Jesus Christ. They can help those who do not know Jesus to invite Him into their lives as Saviour and Lord.

Please share with us your current ministry?

A: I’m currently the Chairman of the Local Church Executive Committee of Shekinah Methodist Church in Sitiawan. The said congregation was formed on 3-4-1994; its vision is to build a Christ-centred, Bible based and Holy Spirit empowered Church that is apostolic in character to reach the people in Manjung and the regions beyond for Jesus Christ. I’m increasingly, persuaded and convinced that as ‘the heart of the problem’ facing society is ‘the human heart’ it would require a divine surgery rather than political surgery to effect the desired socio-economic and political changes for the betterment of our society.

Lastly, what would be your passing words to the current FGBMF members? A: Press on with the FGBMF vision. Meanwhile, one should diligently devote oneself to the study of the Bible to know the truth and obey the Word of God. One Bible teacher has forewarned of a major political upheaval in Taiwan in the imminent future. When that “political tsunami” hit the said country, calamitous and perilous times lies ahead in this part of the world. So be forewarned and be prepared so that one may emerge an overcomer by the grace of the Lord Jesus.
