An Interview...

The FGBMF Malaysia has been the birthplace of many Christian leaders. Some of the FGBMF brothers are now serving as pastors, elders, deacons and in various leadership positions in churches and other ministries. One such person is Bro. Thomas Samuel, a former Central Region Field Rep., who is now serving as National Coordinator of the Jesus Calls Ministry, Malaysia, which runs the Jesus Calls Prayer Tower in Petaling Jaya. The FLAME interviewed Bro. Thomas recently.

Q. Bro Thomas, what led you to the FGBMF and how were you involved in it the early days?

Bro Thomas Samuel

A: I was introduced to the FGBMF by my father-in-law, the late Bro.J.S.Devaraj. As I was working in the MUI building, I got involved in the MUI chapter. Initially, I only attended, then I slowly got involved in various positions before taking over as the President for a number of years and later as the Field Representative. The late Dr. Abraham Tong was one of those instrumental in me taking on the more senior positions.

Q. Can you compare the spiritual climate then and now?

A: The spiritual climate was electrifying as we had large gatherings and also we had some greatly anointed men of God coming our way to minister. The committee that we had was also so committed and united that we looked forward towards the meetings that were held on Fridays. Since I left the chapter way back in 2002 because I was no longer working in the vicinity, I am unable to compare with the climate now.

Q. Would you say you have attained utmost satisfaction when filled with the Holy Spirit?

A: I was born into a Christian family but when I was filled with the Holy Spirit, my life was never the same again. Reading the Word became so interesting, going for a Christian meeting was something I looked forward to and seeing the love and the power of God on display brought me to tears many times but at the same time rejoicing to see so many being set free.

Q. You certainly have fond memories of FGBMF Malaysia. Would you kindly share them with us?

A: Although we came from different denominational backgrounds, we were bonded by the love of God. While in other organizations, people contested for positions, in FGBMF we were there to serve in whatever positions. In fact, we were one of the first chapters that started the rotation system of presidents. The three senior members were “forced” to hold the presidency for two years each, not because they wanted to shirk their responsibility but all wanted to work in unison in promoting the gospel in the marketplace, immaterial of the position they held. The way we worked with the neighboring chapters in organizing banquets, lunch hour prayer meetings and even a well coordinated prayer walk is something I will always cherish. The results were obvious- strong sense of unity, salvations, rededications, healings etc.

Q. What are your views on FGBMF’s progress over the recent years?

A: As I have not been with the FGBMF for a few years now and I am not really in touch with what is going on now, it may be difficult for me to comment here.

Q. What is it that you miss most ever since you became less active in FGBMF?

A: The brotherly love which we had for each other although we came from different backgrounds. The casual meetings that Bro Thomas Samuel The very essence of leadship is that you have to have a vision. - Theodore Hesburgh we had where we could relax and have a good laugh. The joy of seeing people giving their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ after a good message and a good meal.

Q. Please share with us your current ministry?

A: I am involved in is a inter denominational faith-based prayer ministry. We started the Jesus Calls Prayer Tower in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia to pray for the broken-hearted, the churches and the country. Supported by 70 intercessors from about 35 different churches, we are a ministry of love and compassion. We have prayed for thousands of prayer requests and seen the hand of the Lord in healing so many physical conditions, relationships and finances. We see our role as complementing the church as all salvations are directed to churches for discipleship and if any doctrinal questions are raised, we request the requester to go back to their respective pastors. We are open from 10.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and the first Saturday of the month. During this period, anyone could call us for prayers (prayer hotline – 03 7960 7370), visit us for prayers (Tower Villa, 11, Lorong Timur, 46000 Petaling Jaya) or e-mail us (jcmalaysia@gmail.com), fax us (03 7960 8370) or write to us. Twice a month, we conduct Healing & Anointing meetings ie. on the first and the third Thursdays of the month which is open to all.

Q. Lastly, what would be your passing words to the current FGBMF members?

A: There is a huge harvest field out there. Keep doing the good work and God will richly reward you with the souls from the market place, for which you are so uniquely positioned, so long as you remain united and do not lose heart.
